The Sabbath Day

The Sabbath Day is a weekly appointment with Our Creator and Father along with Our Messiah, Yeshua and the rest of His Children.  It is also a sign and a covenant from Our Father and Creator.

Gen 2:1-3   Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.  And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

I believe Adam and Eve had this standing weekly appointment in the garden.  I base this on the first question and response in the conversation that was between Our Father, Yahweh and Adam after Eve and him partook of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.

Gen 3:9   ( Our Father’s Question)  Then Yahweh God called to Adam and said to him,  “Where are you?”  (Adam)
Gen 3:10   (Adam responded)  So He said,  “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

I have heard that the Father’s question was just rhetorical and this word be true if you just took the words and face value.  I learned to see it differently base on the answer Adam gave, for he responded explaining why he was not with the presence of Yahweh, his Father and not merely saying where he was at that time.

The question:  Where are You, is use to actually to find out where one is, like a Father or Mother seeking a child for what ever reason.  It is also use when we have had an appointment with someone at particular time and place and the other person was running late or maybe forgot or blow it off, we may call time and ask  “Where are You!”.  This is would speak volumes for the question is really asking why are you not here with me at our appointed time and place. Adam’s response answers this quite well.

There is another reason, I believe the Weekly Sabbath appointment was from the beginning, for it was created at that time, just after mankind was formed.  Think about it did Our Father just went off somewhere to be alone, or did he want to enjoy the presence of His Child with taking time from creating, to nurturing His newly created being, who is in His likeness.  This is reason for the Sabbath and why it was created by Our Father from the beginning.

Remember what Our Master Yeshua said,  Mark 2:27-28  “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.  Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”  and what is written,  Heb 10:23-25  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
